Update on Big Jack!

Thank you so much for all your thoughts, concerns, calls, food, visits, offers to feed the dogs, and prayers. Jack is getting better and better, although, it is starting to wear on our souls that his smiles are far and few between. We're used to a pretty smiley guy! The doctor is optimistic that she will not need to operate again and his swelling is much better this morning. He is sitting up for periods of time and enjoyed listening to his boombox (see an earlier blog entry) with me for several minutes. He is spending a lot of time sleeping on our chests and is eating about 25% of what his normal intake is. We are being treated VERY well and because we live in Manor, we can utilize the Ronald McDonald House for meals, laundry, et cetera. I will be returning to work for 1/2 days this week and Dan is fortunate to be able to take the whole week off. Later this afternoon, we are going to learn how to bathe him and change his dressing. He has a large open wound which needs thorough care to prevent infection. It is pretty painful for him when the dressing is changed so they are giving him morphine before it happens. So far the antibiotics are working as they should and things overall are on the up and up.

Awesome to hear that the little bubba is doing better and better. I'll be at Dell Children's tomorrow and Thursday for a meeting. Call me and let me know if you need anything. :), Tracy

Oh my gosh kj! Doesn't it just make you wish it could be you instead of him?!? Hang in there-I know you are getting good care. Do they know why this whole deal happened? Wish I could give you a hug in person!

I was just thinking... All those years of you giving good care to Craig and Co. coming back good karma style to you now and you deserve it!

Thinking of you guys from out here in San Diego. Wish I could give you direct support (would walk those dogs for sure) but you are in my thoughts (and Aaron's).
